Uploaded for the Beauty in Everyday Objects contest. This is Dried Bay Laurel. They're used as spices all over the world and my dad is using them in our food all the time.
Just to clarify. The focus is meant to be like this. I didn't want the focus on the edge of the leaf, I wanted to show the texture of the leaf.
To show people how easy it is taking these kind of photos, I've uploaded my workspace: . I then use the manual exposure mode (it should be the M mode on Canon cameras) and adjust the shutter speed and aperture. Color was tweaked slightly towards a more greener color, using Canon Photo Professional.
Great one! I was gonna say the focus is off and it lacks sharpness, but then I read your description, and it all makes sense. Good call on leading the attention to the texture of the leaves.
